Pipecraft Training 

 

Bag & Bellows Making Course.

With Paddy O’Hare

The aim of the course is to provide the participants with the foundation skills, knowledge and competence essential to hand making a Bag and bellows with the auxiliary pieces necessary to connect the two and tie in a chanter.

 It will incorporate the assessment of materials, planning and dimensions of the bag and bellows, cutting out and machining, assembly, stitching and testing of the various components to complete the bag and bellows including tying in the stocks for bellows and chanter connection.

Candidates for this course will ideally have some workshop experience and will have completed previous machining workshops with NPU. ** In cases where the participant has no machining experience stocks will be provided for modification to suit specific requirements.

v  Course Duration: 1  week, 9am to4.30pm (not including clean-up time)         Lunch;  ˝ hour.  

v  Location: Pipecraft Training Centre, Unit 44, Port Tunnel Business Park, Clonsaugh, Dublin 17.

v  Course Fee: Na Piobairi Uilleann are pleased to be in a position to offer this course at a cost of

        €180 per person due to extensive fund raising and the assistance of The Arts Council. 

The course will run from Monday February 27th to Friday March 2nd                                                       

There is a limited number of places available and these will be filled through a process of application and suitability.

**Due to Health & Safety regulations, use of machine tools that pose specific risk to users require that the operatives receive adequate training. Where time allows for this training to take place within the constraints of the week long course every effort will be made to insure that this will be done. In such circumstances the course participant will be permitted to attempt to machine their own stocks necessary to complete the bag and bellows set.
