Gay Mc Keon - CEO   

Gay

Gay Mc Keon has been on the Board of Na Píobairí Uilleann since 1987, when he became Secretary. He subsequently served for five years as Treasurer and was the Chairman from 2002 until 2006. He comes from a Dublin family noted for their involvement in Irish music - his father Tom was one of the activists who kept the Dublin Pipers Club running in the mid years of the last century.

He is surrounded by piping; his brother Tomás and his two sons Conor and Sean also play. Along with his sons Gay has made two CDs, Irish Piping Tradition (1997 - CDGMK001) and The Dusty Miller (2005 - CDGMCK002)

Gerry Lyons - Administrator

Gerry

Gerry Lyons was the Secretary of Na Píobairí Uilleann from 2003 until 2007. An IT applications expert by trade, he provides considerable expertise to Na Píobairí Uilleann in the field of data processing and computer systems, and in 2005 oversaw the introduction of a suite of new programs that will streamline office procedures and provide greater efficiently in our operations.

He is a lover of traditional music and plays the flute as well as the pipes. His son Niall also plays the pipes.

Terry Moylan - Archivist

Terry

Terry Moylan started learning the pipes with Leo Rowsome in 1968. He became a member of Na Píobairí Uilleann the same year and has served on the committee of NPU since 1971. He has been the Na Píobairí Uilleann archivist since April 2001.

He has served several terms as a board member of the Irish Traditional Music Archive and was a member of the committee set up to advise on the content of "Ceol", the Irish music interpretative centre. He was a founder member of the Folk Music Society of Ireland.

He has an interest in music, song and dance, and has published works in all three fields. He has lectured on music and dance, and conducted dance workshops throughout Ireland and in Britain, Europe and the USA.

Sandie Purcell - Administrative Assistant

Sandie

Sandie Purcell is a fiddle player with experience within the Traditional Arts sector as a musician. composer, publisher and teacher.   Also Sandie has administrative experience in retail and call centre environments. Sandie holds a B Mus (Composition) from DIT Conservatory of Music and an MA in Humanities from St. Patrick's College (DCU)

John Blake - FÁS Supervisor

John

John Blake is the Co-ordinator of the NPU Heritage and Research project which is run in Na Píobairí Uilleann in conjunction with Fás.

Born in London, John is well known as a multi instrumentalist, appearing on such albums as ‘Humours of Highgate’ (ARC002) and ‘The Tap Room Trio’ (SPINCD1007) and also for his production work on many albums to date including Robbie Hannan’s ‘The Tempest’ and Emmett Gill’s ‘The Mountain Groves’ for Na Píobairí Uilleann.

He uses his experience as a sound engineer for NPUs monthly recitals, and for the recent Piperlink tours and annual ‘Ace and Deuce of Piping’ concert. He has toured extensively and continues to perform at festivals throughout Ireland and abroad.
