The Board and staff of Na Píobairí Uilleann would like to express our thanks to the Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon for the grant awarded to Na Píobairí Uilleann for 2010, particularly in the current economic environment.
As previously stated we will undertaking fund-raising activities, and we are hopeful that our these activities will enable us to offset some of the impact of the reduced funding. The fundraising activities will be formally rolled out in March to coincide with the launch of a CD featuring Seán Potts, President of NPU, who has very generously donated the recording to us to assist us financially. We also congratulate Seán on the recently announced award to him of Gradam Saoil 2010 by TG4.
Web Tutor
I am pleased to advise that we will be adding a total of nine new lessons by Tom Creegan, Éanna Ó Múiré and Terry Moylan to our web piping tutor resource before the end of February.
Rowsome Commemorative Event
This first major NPU piping event of the year to be in 15 Henrietta Street, Dublin 1 on Saturday February 27th 2010 . The programme details can be viewed at , we are looking forward to a very enjoyable event again this year.
Monthly Session with the Pipers recital March 2010
This series continues on the first Tuesday of each month in the Cobblestone Bar in Smithfield, Dublin 7. The next recital on Tuesday February January 2nd will feature piper John McSherry, Fiddler Donal O’Connor , Clare Concertian player Mary McNamara and singer Éamon Ó Donnchadha

Tionól 2010
This years event will be held at The Step House Hotel in Borris, County Carlow on Friday to Sunday May 28th to 30th. the programme listing can be accessed at http://www.pipers.ie/events/_100528Tionol2010.htm
The surrounding area is very scenic and the local Kilkenny Holiday Homes holiday village offers affordable self catering accommodation that may be attractive to families and other groups of people.

The 2010 event will commence on Saturday July3rd and will include tuition classes for piping, Air playing, reed and pipe -making and music appreciation along with the daily piping recitals and the Wednesday night piping concert. Registration for the piping classes can be can be made directly with NPU on-line from 1st March 2010. |
