Is the V.V. label totally defunct, then? Reason is I'm putting together a website featuring un-reissued old recordings of Irish music, and don't want to step on Harry's turf as it were, perhaps a track or two for instructive purposes is all. Also if the label's still going I'll direct people its way, as I plan to do with product from Topic, Rounder, Shanachie, NPU, Arhoolie, etc.
I'd like to contact Harry regarding my project anyway.

No really, I'd like to contact Harry. I'm putting a bit of effort into making sure I don't include anything Viva Voce have done already - I'd just as soon reproduce their whole catalog on the Web for free if Harry doesn't mind!

You can probably get in touch with Harry (no relation) through ITMA:

Harry (no relation).

Kevin,

Slightly related, there is a threat to reissues in the UK with proposals to extend the mechanical copyright from 50 to 95 years.

Rod Stradling has set out some very cogent arguments here http://www.mustrad.org.uk/editor.htm backed up by Fred McCormick in the letters section.

Worth a read, and for all of us in the UK a chance to campaign against vested interest and preserve our access to important historical recordings.

Ken
