The Hag tunes are great. Like:
The Hag With The Money
THe Hag At The Kiln
The Hag At The Churn
Old Hag You Have Killed Me
The Hag In The Corner
The Hag's Purse
The Hag At The Spinning Wheel
The Hag In The Blanket
Cheer Up Old Hag
etc.
I'm sure there's more too... do a search for "Hag" on http://www.thesession.org/ and you'll come up with enough to be getting on with
Other ones to look out for are jig's with "Humour" in the title. Such as:
The Humours of Ballyloughlin
The Humours of Drinagh
The Humours of Ballingarry
The Humours of Whiskey
The Humours of Derrycrossane
The Humours of Lisheen
etc.
"Maid" tunes are good too. Atleast this idea gives you a "hit list" of tunes to aim for.
Great tunes.... themed if you will
Patrick. |

i know this is an ancient post, but all the same, thanks for that, Pat. that kind of information is incredibly useful (and kinda fascinating) to an aspiring piper. i had no idea there were "keywords" like that! that's wonderful. are there any such giveaway words in the titles of slow airs? _________________ There are three kinds of people: those who can count, and those who can't. |
