My 5-volume set of Holtzapffel's work "Turning and Mechanical Manipulation" is for sale, as I recently obtained a second set. All 5 volumes are paperback reprint editions, 1 through 3 are from Astragal Press and volumes 4 and 5 are the Dover editions. First three volumes are in near-new condition, though they are not unread, Volumes 4 and 5 show minor wear on the spines and corners. All pages intact, none loose.

First four volumes are available new from Astragal for around 30.00-35.00 USD each plus postage, but the fifth is harder to come by (Amazon.co.uk's best price at the moment seems to be £56 used).

The books are an omnibus of 19th century engineering as published from 1843 to 1884, and remain enormously valuable to the turner, mechanic, and antiquarian.

Vol 1: Materials, their choice, preparation, and various modes of working them (>464 pp, ~300 figures)
Vol 2: Construction, action, and application of cutting tools (1025 pp, >700 figures)
Vol 3: Abrasive and other processes not accomplished with cutting tools (796 pp, 430 woodcut figures)
Vol 4: Hand or simple turning - principles and practice (592 pp, 793 figures)
Vol 5: The principles and practice of ornamental or complex turning(656pp, >600 illustrations)

This is just a note to say that the 5-volume Holtz set is sold.
