I see that Stephan Ruane made reeds from the branches of a yew tree. Has anyone tried this? I've heard of elder reeds but not yew reeds. Prehaps this refers just to drone reeds?

I recall Matt Kiernan showing me mahogany chanter reeds 30 years ago. he figured reeds were made from whatever was available when UPers were stuck. They worked OK and I made a few but the time involved for the result was viable
